I was really hoping to try out the free trial of Team Fortress 2 —I've watch the game played and it looks fun. Too bad Steam is highly uncooperative as ever: I had to force-quit it three times when it became totally unresponsive, and it crashed once while trying to get the download to start. The download has now been going for over four hours, despite the pretty good internet connection I have, and has only transferred about half of the data, as it has spent most of the time totally idle. I'm guessing that Valve's servers are rather swamped and they just can't send it out any faster.
